'A Quiet Place in the Country' Director: Elio Petri (1968) Radiance Limited Edition Blu-ray | HD transfer | Italian or English w/ English subtitles
Plagued by nightmares, a celebrated artist takes rest in his new villa on advice from his lover. There, he begins researching the local legend of a promiscuous countess who died in the house. Meanwhile, his lover encounters a series of mysterious accidents. Starring Franco Nero (Django) and Vanessa Redgrave (The Devils).
Part ghost story, part meditation on the creative process told through the excesses of the 1960s. Elio Petri (The Working Class Goes to Heaven) brilliantly fuses these ideas in ways that are at times shocking, yet thought-provoking in their investigation of art, sex and madness, set to an eerie score by Ennio Morricone.
