This is an amazing resource for anyone wrestling with what it means to create comedy. There are many schools popping up every where, and books written by comedy writers and improvisers each with their own experience or expertise. But most are written from a "this works for me" perspective, which they either openly state or, worse, ignore and instead present their information as if it is gospel. A quick look at this bibliography will give a wide range of qualified perspectives on any aspect of comedy one could hope to find. The result will be a deeper understanding of the process and the ability to make up one's own mind about how to proceed, instead of simply parroting the ideas of others uncritically. The next step would be to create an annotated version of this bibliography, but that would reflect the biases of the annotator. So, annotate your own for your own use, as I'm about to for my own use! But if anyone points to some book as the new comedy bible, hit them often with this thin but full book.It was just alist of comedy plays and things. I thought there were actually plays inthe book. I can get alist form the internet.
