Stylistically evoking classic Hollywood melodrama Almodóvar tells the story of a mother who when she tragically loses her teenage son sets out for Barcelona to tell the boy's father about the son he never knew he had. There she forms bonds with three women, different to herself and each other, and finds some purpose again.
