'Night of the Hunter' Director: Charles Laughton (1955) Criterion Collection 2-Disc Blu-ray | Restoration
Robert Mitchum gives a compelling performance as 'the preacher' with a dark past ingratiating himself into a community and then a family to get his hands on hidden stole loot. Only the children know the location of the money but the young boy can sense the malicious intent - they flee and are pursued. The whole cast give great performances. The cinematography simultaneously creates a sinister atmosphere and a beauty.
